Abstract:
“How do upheavals of masculinity, ecologies, and democracy converge on the
American Great Plains? What kind of writing can contribute to wider efforts to
reclaim common ground at this pivotal historical moment? To explore such
questions, this reading from a manuscript-in-progress excavates the emotional
and environmental terrain of the author’s family homestead located along
western Oklahoma’s Hundredth Meridian, where tensions of damage and repair
accrete over generations.”
