The Committee on Social Theory hosts a variety of public lectures and faculty presentations throughout the academic year. All Social Theory lectures are open to the public.

The Fall Distinguished Speaker features a globally renowned academic whose work utilizes Social Theory.

The Spring Lecture Series is connected to the Social Theory 600 course. The instructors of this team-taught course invite an esteemed academic to lecture on a topic that intersects with both Social Theory and with the topic of that semester's course theme. Themes include "Queer Theory," "Animal," "Populism," "Affect," "The Archive," "Justice," "Transnational Lives," "Market Failures," "Mapping," and much more. In addition to hosting academics from all over the globe, the Committee on Social Theory also sponsors presentations by Social Theory affiliated faculty members from the University of Kentucky. Our Workshops feature works-in-progress from Social Theory affiliated faculty members, providing a venue for feedback as they develop their work. Our New Affiliate Showcases include presentations of the Committee on Social Theory's newest faculty affiliate members, showcasing the range of interdisciplinary interests for graduate and fellow faculty members.
